She was an American Actress, Director, Author, known for Wives of the Prophet (1926), The Land of Jazz (1920), Ermine and Rhinestones (1925), Ruth Stonehouse's first movie on record is from 1911. She was married to Joseph Anthony Roach (1914-1921) and Felix Hughes (1927-1941). Ruth Stonehouse died on May 12, 1941 in Hollywood, California, USA. Her last motion picture on file dates from 1928.
Biographical Notes in German: Tänzerin und Schauspielerin des amerikanischen Stummfilms, geboren 1892 in Denver, Colorado, übersiedelte sie mit ihrer Mutter nach Chicago, wo sie sich mit Gertrud Spoor, der Tochter von Georg Spoor, anfreundete. Spoor hatte 1907 mit Gilbert M. 'Broncho Billy' Anderson die Essanay Studios gegründet. Ab 1910 spielte Ruth Stonehouse in zahlreichen Komödien oder Western der Essanay die Hauptrollen, oft als Partnerin von Gilbert Anderson. 1916 wechselte sie zur Universal, wo sie auch in einigen Filmen Regie führte. Ihre Karriere endete mit dem Ende des Stummfilms, nachdem sie in mehr als 200 Filmen gespielte hatte, von denen nur wenige überlebt haben.
