Biographical Notes in German: Arthur Hoops startete seine Filmkarriere 1914 als Partner von Mary Pickford in Filmen wie "Such a Little Queen" und "Mistress Nell" und von Marguerite Clark in "Gretna Green". Er war bereits ein renomierter Theaterschauspieler, hatte mit Nat Goodwin in dessen Company gespielt, war unter Charles Frohman am Broadway engagiert. Zu seinem besten Bühnenrollen zählten die Aufführungen mit James K. Hackett in "The Prisoner of Zenda".
1915 spielte Hoops unter der Regie von J. Gordon Edwards mit Betty Nansen in "The Song of Hate" und mit Nance O'Neil in "Should a Mother tell", beide nach einem Drehbuch von Rex Ingram. 1916 folgten dann Filme mit Olga Petrova bei der Metro.
Hoops starb unerwartet im Alter von 46 Jahren an den Folgen eines Herzinfarktes. Die meisten seiner Filme gelten heute als verschollen. (lhg 2015)
