Biographical Notes in German: Eigentlich Elisabeth Maria Christine Kühnelt Zanardi-Landi, ihre Mutter war eine Nichte der Kaiserin Elisabeth von Österreich. Aufgewachsen in London debütierte sie bereits 1923 im Theater. Zu ihren besten Rollen in Hollywood zählen Allan Dwan's WICKED und Cecil B. de Mille's SIGN OF THE CROSS. Trotz namhafter Filme und guter Rollen hatte Elissa Landi aber in den USA nie so richtig Erfolge. Nach AFTER THE THIN MAN zog sich Elissa Landi praktisch vom Film zurück, um sich dem Theater, Radio und der Schriftstellerei zu widmen. Sie starb an Krebs in einem New Yorker Spital im Alter von 44 Jahren.
