Fritz Lang was born on December 5, 1890 in Wien. He was a German Director, known for The blue Gardenia (1953), You only live once (1936), Der Tiger von Eschnapur (1958), Fritz Lang's first movie on record is from 1916. Fritz Lang died on August 2, 1976 in Beverly Hills, CA, USA. His last motion picture on file dates from 1974.
Biographical Notes in German: Fritz Lang, geboren 1890 in Wien, studierte Kunst in München und Paris. Während des Zweiten Weltkrieges kämpfte er als Soldat und wurde mehrfach verwundet. Während eines längeren Krankenhausaufenthaltes begann er, Kurzgeschichten und Drehbücher zu schreiben. Sein Regiedebüt hatte Lang 1919 mit dem Film "Halbblut". Langs Vorliebe für Kriminalgeschichten zeigt sich bereits im Stummfilm mit der "Dr.-Mabuse"-Reihe. Auch im frühen Tonfilm greift Lang diese Thematik in "M. Mörder unter uns" wieder auf. 1934 geht Lang ins amerikanische Exil. Mit "Ministry of Fear" dreht er dort seinen ersten Film Noir. Ihm folgen neun weitere Noir-Klassiker, darunter "Scarlet Street", "House by the River", "The Big Heat" und "Human Desire".
