Mary Pickford was born on April 8, 1893 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She was an American Actress, Producer, known for America's Sweetheart (1977), The Black Pirate (1926), The nut (1921), Mary Pickford's first movie on record is from 1909. She was married to Owen Moore, Douglas Fairbanks and Charles Rogers. Mary Pickford died on May 29, 1979 in Santa Monica, California, USA. Her last motion picture on file dates from 2008.
Biographical Notes in German: Schauspielerin und Produzentin des amerikanischen Films, Theaterrollen seit ihrem fünften Lebensjahr. 1908 wurde sie von der BIOGRAPH engagiert und wurde als THE BIOGRAPH GIRL bekannt. Mary Pickford wurde eine der beliebtesten Darstellerinnen in den Filmen von David Wark Griffith wie "THE VIOLINMAKER OF CREMONA", "THE LONELY VILLA" oder "AN ARCADIAN MAID". "Amerikas Sweetheart" spielte in der Folge bei der IMP von Carl Laemmle und ab 1916 für Jesse Lasky's Famous Players. 1919 war sie mit Charles Chaplin, David Wark Griffith und Douglas Fairbanks Gründerin der unabhängigen Produktionsgesellschaft UNITED ARTISTS. Auch in den Filmen der Zwanziger Jahren blieb sie ihrem Bild als dem unschuldigen Mädchen treu. Wie bei manchem Stummfilmstar brach auch Mary Pickford's Beliebtheit in der Tonfilmzeit abrupt ab, nach wenigen Tonfilmen zog sich Pickford zurück und konzentrierte sich einzig auf das Produzieren: 1933 bis 1935 ist sie Vizepräsidentin der United Artists, 1936 Mitinhaberin der Lasky Productions, 1945 gründet sie die Pickford Production Inc., ihre Anteile an der United Artists verkaufte sie 1953.

Mary Pickford war dreimal verheiratet: in erster Ehe (1911 bis 1920) mit dem Schauspieler Owen Moore, dann von 1920 bis zur Scheidung 1036 mit Douglas Fairbanks (senior) und schliesslich von 1937 bis zu ihrem Tod mit dem Bandleader und Schauspieler Charles 'Buddy' Rogers.
