Vladislav Starevich was born on August 6, 1892 in Poland. He was a Russian Director, Director of Photography, known for Jugendrausch (1927), Kaliostro (1918), Lilija Belgii (Allegorija Sovremennosti) (1915), Vladislav Starevich's first movie on record is from 1912. Vladislav Starevich died on February 28, 1965 in Fontenay-sous-Bois. His last motion picture on file dates from 1927.
Biographical Notes in German: Der aus Polen stammende Starevic studiert Kunst in St. Petersburg und beginnt etwa 1910 damit, Puppentrickfilme im stop-motion Verfahren zu gestalten. Zwischen 1915 und 1919 führt er die Kamera bei einigen Spielfilmen und inszeniert mehrere Filme mit dem berühmten sowjetischen Darsteller Iwan Moshukin.
Starevic geht 1919 nach Frankreich, wo er zwischen 1923 und 1950 knapp zwei Dutzend Puppenfilme realisiert. Er ist bei den meisten seiner Filme zugleich auch sein eigener Kameramann, Szenenbildner und Drehbuchautor.
