She was an American Actress, known for The Barefoot Contessa (1954), The Night of the Iguana (1964), City on Fire (1978), Ava Gardner's first movie on record is from 1941. Ava Gardner died on January 25, 1990 in London. Her last motion picture on file dates from 1985.

"Atemberaubende Aufnahmen machten 1942 die MGM-Bosse auf das Fotomodell Ava Lavinia Gardner aufmerksam. Man engagierte sie für 5 Jahre und besetzte kleine Rollen mit ihr - bis sie 1946 als Vamp Kitty Collins in "Rächer der Unterwelt" zum Männertraum avancierte. Fortan spielte Ava Gardner starke Frauen mit erotischer Ausstrahlung: die Cynthia in der Hemingway-Verfilmung "Schnee auf dem Kilimandscharo" (1952), die verführerische Eloise in dem Afrika-Erfolg "Mogambo" (1953) - eine Rolle, die ihr sogar eine Oscar-Nominierung einbrachte. Als "barfüßige Gräfin" erreichte Ava Gardner den Höhepunkt ihrer glanzvollen und ungewöhnlich langen Filmkarriere: 45 Jahre stand sie in 72 Filmen vor der Kamera, u.a. mit Burt Lancaster, John Wayne, Richard Burton, Clark Gable, Gregory Peck, Humphrey Bogart ... Ava Gardners zahlreiche Affären und ihre fünf Ehen sorgten immer wieder für Schlagzeilen. Am 25. Januar 1990 starb sie an einer Lungenentzündung." (mdr Presse)
