Synopsis in German
Mit Hilfe des Indianers Billy Bear (Sonny Landham) büxt der Häftling Ganz (James Remar) aus dem Knast aus. Auf der Flucht töten die beiden Verbrecher zwei Wachmänner. In San Francisco treffen sie ihren Kumpel Luther (David Patrick Kelly) und kidnappen dessen Freundin Rosalie (Kerry Sherman). Denn Ganz will, dass Luther eine versteckte halbe Million findet. In San Francisco bereitet sich Detective Jack Cates (Nick Nolte) mit einem mit Whiskey verstärkten Kaffee auf den bevorstehenden Arbeitstag vor. Zusammen mit seinen Kollegen folgt er einer Spur von gestohlenen Kreditkarten. Diese führt zu Billy Bear und Ganz - und in den Tod: Cates' Partner werden erschossen, die Killer entkommen. Da entdeckt Cates, dass jemand, der zur gleichen Bande gehörte wie Ganz und Billy Bear, noch hinter Gittern sitzt: der Schwarze Reggie Hammond (Eddie Murphy). Cates schlägt in dieser aussichtslosen Situation einen unorthodoxen Weg ein: Für 48 Stunden holt er Hammond heraus. In dieser Zeit soll er Cates helfen, Ganz und Billy Bear dingfest zu machen, danach wandert er wieder in den Knast.
