Synopsis in German
In der expressiven Stummfilmversion des Shakespeare-Dramas spielt Emil Jannings die Titelrolle des "Mohren" Othello. Der erfolgreiche Feldherr und Gatte Desdemonas verschafft dem von ihm geschätzten Cassio eine Beförderung und verärgert damit Fähnrich Jago. Der fädelt eine Intrige ein und lässt Othello glauben, seine Frau betrüge ihn mit Cassio. Othello gerät in eifersüchtige Raserei und mordet Desdemona. Zu spät durchschaut er den Betrug, tötet Jago und nimmt sich schließlich selbst das Leben. Cassio tritt seine Nachfolge an (www.filmportal.de)
