Synopsis in German
Nach dem Rücktritt der Fürstin Ludovica regiert im Fürstentum Palamo die junge Prinzessin Stefanie. Prinz Antonio, der eigentliche Thronerbe, hatte als Fünfzehnjähriger das Land verlassen und ist seitdem spurlos verschwunden.
Durch Zufall erfährt Ministerpräsident Tabanes, dass der weltberühmte Tenor Torelli niemand anderer ist als der verschollene Antonio. In aller Hast wird der Staatsrat zusammengerufen. Denn laut herrschendem Gesetz haben Frauen auf dem Thron nichts zu suchen, solange es männliche Nachkommen gibt.
Gleich zwei Minister werden entsandt, um Torelli alias Antonio zurückzuholen, der sich in Begleitung des Komponisten und Kapellmeisters Benjamin Cortes und seines Impresarios Flint auf einer großen Konzerttournee befindet. Zu Flints großem Entsetzen willigt Torelli ein, seinen Thron in Besitz zu nehmen - unter der Bedingung, dass sein treuer Cortes ihm als Minister beisteht. Er glaubt den Thron verwaist und ahnt nicht, dass die Intriganten die arme Stefanie klammheimlich abserviert und unter Hausarrest gestellt haben. (BR Presse)
