Synopsis in German
Das Dorf Santa Maria leidet unter großer Armut. Grundbesitzer Vargas will den Bewohnern Land schenken. Bevor es dazu kommt, stirbt er unter mys-teriösen Umständen. Eleonore (Carin C. Tietze), die aus Deutschland angereiste Tochter des Verstorbenen, steigt im Hotel von Honorarkonsul Gert (Mario Adorf) ab. Sie sieht sich den Intrigen des Vargas-Enkels und Miterben Pab-lo ausgesetzt, der Santa Maria für sein Staudammprojekt opfern will.
