Synopsis in German
Boldon ist eine nette Stadt in den Südstaaten. In der Flamingo Road lebt das Establishment in säulengeschmückten Villen. Das honorige Image ist allerdings teuer erkauft. Denn Sheriff Titus Semple führt ein autokratisches Regime in Boldon - und nimmt sogar Einfluss auf die Politik des Bundesstaates. Für die kommenden Wahlen hat er grosse Pläne: Sein Gehilfe Fielding Carlisle, ein zielloser, lenkbarer junger Mann aus guter Familie, soll als Semples Strohmann in den Senat einziehen. Bei den Wahlmännern setzt der Sheriff seinen Kandidaten mühelos durch. Fehlt nur noch eins: Fielding muss heiraten, am besten in die bessere Gesellschaft. Da taucht Lane Bellamy auf, eine eigenwillige Schönheit, die ihr Leben als Tänzerin beim Zirkus vertingelt hat, sich nun aber irgendwo niederlassen möchte. Dass Fielding sich mit der "Herumtreiberin" einlässt, passt Semple ganz und gar nicht. Er sorgt dafür, dass Lane wegen Prostitution verhaftet wird. Die nicht mehr ganz junge Frau scheint am Ende. Doch Semples mafiose Methoden haben ihren Widerstandsgeist geweckt. Sie verlässt das Gefängnis mit der Absicht, sich nicht vertreiben zu lassen. Als sie in einem Nachtklub den Bauunternehmer und Wahlkampfmanager Dan Reynolds kennenlernt, der mit Semple jahrelang Intrigen gesponnen hat, greift sie zu. Als Mrs. Reynolds zieht Lane in der Flamingo Road ein. Und bringt den mafiosen Chef der Stadt erst recht gegen sich auf. (3Sat Presse)
