Synopsis in German
In seinem Film "Das elfte Jahr" ging es dem russischen Filmemacher Dziga Vertov im Jahre 1928 um den Aufbau des Sozialismus - der Jubiläumsfilm im elften Jahr nach der Oktoberrevolution wurde von der VUFKU in Kiew produziert.
Ausgangspunkt des Films ist die Industrialisierung der Ukrainischen Sowjetrepublik mit Hilfe der gigantischen Wasserkraftwerke am Dnjepr. Vertov entwirft in diesem Film eine fundamentale ökonomische Archäologie der Menschheitsgeschichte. Spektakuläre Fotografie- und Überblendungsexperimente erzeugen einen "geschichteten Raum": eine Hymne auf die Umlenkung der Naturkräfte zugunsten der politischen und gesellschaftlichen Entwicklung Ziel war, eine "Zusammenfassung der neuen Visualität" zu entwerfen. Hier steht nicht mehr die rhythmische Zwischentitel-Bild-Montage von statischen Bildkompositionen im Vordergrund, sondern ein dynamisches, fast lyrisches Fließen bewegter Einstellungen. Diese erlangen zwar teilweise ikonischen Status - wie etwa die auf den Wassermassenguss projizierte Lenin-Büste -, sind oft aber nichts anderes als pure Visualität von Bewegung. Die Anzahl der Zwischentitel ist dabei drastisch reduziert - allein die aneinandergereihten Episoden erzeugen den Sinn. Dabei nimmt der Rhythmus eine besondere Rolle ein. Form und Inhalt sind untrennbar. "Odinnadcatyj" stand in der Sowjetunion zu seiner Zeit daher naturgemäß unter Formalismusverdacht, gerade deshalb aber inspiriert der Film bis heute zu filmanalytischer Kreativität. (arte Presse)
