Über Jahrzehnte sind in Marokko schwule Sex- und Lebenshierarchien gewachsen. Der Film porträtiert weiße Homosexuelle, die als Rentner im libertären Klima der einstigen Freihandelsstadt Tanger mit jungen marokkanischen Liebhabern ihren Lebensabend genießen. Ohne ein moralisches Urteil zu fällen, sucht der Autor dieses symbiotische Verhältnis als Überschneidung europäischer Subkultur mit arabischer Tradition darzustellen, scheitert aber, weil er kaum insistierend fragt und wichtige Themen vernachlässigt. Zu voyeuristisch bedient er sich zudem der außergewöhnlichen Offenheit des Protagonisten. (Zoom, 11/98)
