In den Hauptrollen liefern sich Cornel Wilde (1915 - 1989), Michael Wilding (1912 - 1979), George Sanders (1906 - 1972) und Robert Douglas (1909 - 1999) einen hartnäckigen Kampf im Spannungsfeld zwischen Verrat und Patriotismus, Liebe und Hass.
