Synopsis in German
Unmittelbar nach dem Krieg begegnen sich im besetzten Deutschland der französische Hauptmann Henri Rochard (Cary Grant) und die Angehörige eines amerikanischen Armeehilfskorps, Leutnant Catherine Gates (Ann Sheridan). Sie verlieben sich ineinander, gestehen es sich jedoch erst nach einigen Komplikationen ein und beschließen zu heiraten. Das jedoch ist nicht so einfach, wie man es sich gemeinhin vorstellt, denn es gibt auf beiden Seiten - bei der amerikanischen wie der französischen Armee - viele bürokratische Hindernisse aus dem Weg zu räumen. Als diese endlich beseitigt sind, naht schon die nächste Katastrophe: Catherines Einheit wird in die USA zurückversetzt. Henri will natürlich seiner Fraufolgen, die sich praktischerweise daran erinnert, dass amerikanische Soldaten europäische "Kriegsbräute" mit in die Heimat nehmen dürfen. So avanciert Henri zu einer männlichen Kriegsbraut. Erneut nimmt er die Hürden der Bürokratie, füllt Formulare aus, die bestätigen, dass er nicht schwanger ist, und wiegt sich schon in Sicherheit, als der Kapitän des Schiffs, das ihn und seine Liebste in die Staaten bringen soll, mit einem Blick erkennt, dass Henri eigentlich keine Braut ist...
