Die drei New Yorker Mannequins Pola Debevoise, Schatze Page und Loco Dempsey kommen in ihrem Beruf finanziell auf keinen grünen Zweig. So beschließen die drei, dass es nur eine einzige Lösung für ihr pekuniäres Desaster gibt: Ein reicher Ehemann muss her und für ein Leben im Luxus sorgen!
Mit ihren letzten Groschen mietet das "Goldfischtrio" ein vornehmes Penthouse, um dort die Opfer endgültig auf "die Knie zum Antrag" zu zwingen. Doch der Plan scheint fürchterlich schief zu gehen, als sich zwei der Damen Hals über Kopf in Männer verlieben, die offensichtlich genauso arm sind wie sie selbst. (ARTE Presse)
