Synopsis in German
Lord Cross in Field verliebt sich in die Zigeunerin Maryla, eine kindliche Tänzerin aus dem Whitechapel-Varieté. Er lässt sie zur Lady erziehen und heiratet sie, aber die dünkelhafte Oberschicht stößt sich an der Vergangenheit seiner Gattin. Maryla trennt sich von ihrem Mann und macht Karriere als Tänzerin.
Später will Cross in Field sie wieder für sich gewinnen, und Maryla ist auch bereit zu ihm zurückzukehren. Doch ihr eifersüchtiger Jugendfreund, der Musiker Czupan, will das um jeden Preis verhindern. Es kommt zu einer heftigen Auseinandersetzung, bei der das Theater in Brand gerät. Maryla erschießt Czupan, sie selbst kommt in den Flammen ums Leben. (www.filmportal.de)
