Synopsis in German
Testpilot Jim Lane (Clark Gable) will einen neuen Geschwindigkeitsrekord aufstellen, muss jedoch auf dem Überlandflug in Kansas auf dem Gelände der Barton-Farm notlanden, als seine Maschine infolge eines Defekts Öl verliert. So lernt der sympathische Draufgänger die Farmerstochter Ann Barton (Myrna Loy) kennen, die ebenso attraktiv wie temperamentvoll ist. 24 Stunden später sind beide verheiratet: Ann hat Frauenliebling Jim im Sturm erobert.
An der Seite ihres frisch gebackenen Ehemanns lernt Ann dessen treu sorgenden Mechaniker Gunner (Spencer Tracy) kennen. Gunner ist mehr als ein kompetenter Partner, er ist ein Freund, wie man ihn sich nur wünschen kann. Er macht sich seine eigenen Gedanken über Jim und Ann, die ihm sehr gefällt: Im Gegensatz zu dem unbekümmerten Piloten merkt er nämlich, was die junge Frau aussteht, wenn ihr Mann in gewagten Testflügen sein Leben riskiert. Das begreift Jim Lane erst in einer bitteren Stunde, als er Gunner für immer verloren hat... (ARD Presse)
