Synopsis in German
Auf dem Liebiwyl-Hof im Berner Emmental leben der Bauer Christen und seine Frau Änneli mit ihren drei Kindern. Die Harmonie wird gestört, als sich Christen vom hinterlistigen Dorfschreiber zur Spekulation mit Mündelgeldern überreden lässt. Das Geld geht verloren, und der geprellte Bauer muss der Gemeinde den Schaden aus der eigenen Tasche begleichen. Das erregt Ännelis Zorn, deren große Hilfsbereitschaft vom immer knauseriger werdenden Christen gebremst wird. Ein böses Wort gibt das andere, und bald stehen die Eheleute vor einem Scherbenhaufen. Erst ein Kirchgang zu Pfingsten macht eine Versöhnung möglich. (3Sat Presse)
Remarks and general Information in German: Jeremias Gotthelf (1797-1854) hatte "Geld und Geist oder Die Versöhnung" in Fortsetzungen geschrieben. 165 Jahre nach der ersten Veröffentlichung ist das Thema dieser Erzählung wieder brandaktuell. Denn Gewinnsucht und Raffgier haben die moderne Welt in eine tiefe Krise gestürzt. Franz Schnyder hat "Geld und Geist" 1964 als letzte seiner Romanverfilmungen ins Kino gebracht. (3Sat Presse)
