Die Werbegraphikerin Cathy Palmer trennt sich von ihrem Freund, dem Fotografen Kenneth Daly, der sie nur ausgenutzt hat. Als er erfährt, dass sie ein Kind erwartet, möchte er sie reumütig heiraten. Doch es ist zu spät: Cathy hat das Kind abtreiben lassen. Jahre später ist Cathy mit einem Anwalt verheiratet und erwarten erneut ein Kind.
