Das verschlafene Dorf Vehfreude im Emmental hat den Anschluss an die blühende Konjunktur verpasst: In den Nachbarorten verdient man mit Käsereien das große Geld. Nun wollen die Vehfreuder ebenfalls eine Käserei bauen. Auf Teufel komm raus liefern die Bauern Milch an - auch verdünnte und solche von kranken Kühen. Ehrbare Angebote von Käsehändlern werden ausgeschlagen, damit man mit dem "Käsekönig" von Langnau ins Geschäft kommen kann. Doch als dieser den Käse prüft, findet er ihn von zweifelhafter Qualität. Die Vehfreudiger bleiben darauf sitzen. Die Lehre ist hart, aber wirksam. (3Sat Presse)
