Synopsis in German
Sohn eines Zeitungsbesitzers heiratet gegen den Vater einen Star. Am Grab des abgestürzten Sohnes versöhner sich. (German Early Cinema Database)

Dorothy Hall, Star der Großen Oper in New York, legt sich mit dem frech-zudringlichen Reporter Herbert Warfield an. Der will daraufhin einen die Hall kompromittierenden Artikel veröffentlichen, gerät aber an Robert Illing, den Sohn seines Chefs und Dorothys heimlichen Verlobten. Robert besiegt Herbert im Boxkampf, aber Roberts Vater steht auf Herberts Seite: Er billigt das Verhältnis seines Sohns zu Dorothy nicht, da sie eine Ausländerin ist. Dann kommt der Krieg. Dorothy muss aus Amerika fliehen. Robert stürzt als Kriegsfreiwilliger über Holland ab und kommt schwer verletzt in ein Lazarett, wo er Dorothy zum letzten Mal sieht. Robert stirbt, Dorothy wird Krankenpflegerin. Die ehemalige Operndiva und Roberts Vater treffen sich an Roberts Grab. Er bittet sie um Verzeihung für seine damalige Gehässigkeit, sie gewährt sie ihm.
