Frei adaptiert nach Leo Tolstojs «Kreutzersonate», erzählt der Film von den Geschehnissen, die einen jungen Mann dazu bringen, die eigene Frau umzubringen - eine berühmte Pianistin, die ihre Karriere aus Liebe zu ihm aufgegeben hatte. Nachdem er einen Teil seiner Strafe in einer Gefängnis-Heilanstalt in der Schweiz abgesessen hat, reist er in die USA, wo er zum ersten Mal seinen Kindern begegnet.» (Locarno 2006)
