Attaché van der Velden hat als junger Student eine Perle gestohlen. Aus Angst vor einer Verhaftung versteckte er sie in einem Skelett, das er gerade präparierte. Jahre später entdeckt er nun dieses Skelett in der Sammlung von Konsul Markutius. Er inszeniert ein Ablenkungsmanöver, um den Unterschenkel des Präparats, der die Perle enthält, unbemerkt an sich zu bringen. Doch er hat die Rechnung ohne Detektiv Joe Deebs gemacht, der die rätselhaften Vorgänge schnell aufklären kann. (www.filmportal.de)
