Synopsis in German
Als armer Waisenjunge in der Ukraine aufgewachsen, mausert sich Leo Demidow (Tom Hardy) bei der Eroberung Berlins zum Kriegshelden der Roten Armee. Und nach dem Krieg steht ihm eine glänzende Karriere im russischen Geheimdienst bevor. Als jedoch 1953 der Sohn seines besten Freundes ermordet wird und Leo die Tat auf Befehl von oben vertuschen soll, fängt er an zu zweifeln. Ist die Sowjetunion unter Stalin tatsächlich ein Arbeiterparadies? Bald merkt er, dass die Suche nach der "Wahrheit" hier tödlich enden kann. Und dass ein Serienkiller, gedeckt durch den Staatsapparat, seelenruhig weiter Kinder tötet … (BR3)

Zum anderen entwickelt sich ein spannender Kriminalfall, den der Held schließlich auf eigene Faust zu klären versucht. (...)
